Chicken pox also known as varicella is a very contagious viral disease.It is a common illness among children particularly below the age of 12. An itchy rash of spots that look like blisters can appear all over the body and this may be accompanied by flu-like synptoms.Life long immunity follows after one develops the disease. Symptoms may go away without treatment. Sometimes though latent virus of chicken pox lives in an infected individual and this may become active in later years and cause shingles.Routine vaccination with the chicken pox vaccine has drastically reduce its incidence in the world.
